The CNU Faculty is composed of distinguished professors who are currently working in industry and/or teaching in the field of Business or have been awarded emeritus status at their universities. The faculty represents diverse backgrounds with members having taught and earned their advanced degrees from nationally recognized traditional universities.

A full complement of faculty are committed to provide CNU students with continuous assistance and feedback. An integral part of this process is the interaction between students and faculty that has been built into CNU programs. Every course has been planned so that the student and professor have a variety of interactions during the trimester to promote the student's awareness of his/her progress in the course.

Dee Andrews, M.A., Ph.D.

Dr. Dee H. Andrews received his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University in 1980, his M.S. in Instructional Design and Development from Florida State in 1977, and his B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 1976. He is a Fellow in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the American Psychological Association, and the Royal Aeronautical Society of the United Kingdom. In 2000 he was awarded the British Silver Medal by the Royal Aeronautical Society.  Since 1987 Dr. Andrews has been the Technical Director of the Warfighter Training Research Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory. He directs the technical program as the Division develops better methods and media for training Air Force personnel. Previously he was a Senior Research Psychologist at the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences, and a research analyst at the Naval Training Systems Center.  As an adjunct professor, he has taught over forty undergraduate and graduate in-class and distance courses for a number of institutions of higher education including: California National University for Advanced Studies, Arizona State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and the University of Central Florida. The courses he has taught include human factors psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, business, simulation and training.

Frank Armstrong, M.S., M.B.A.

Professor Armstrong has an MBA and a Masters Degree in Information Systems Management, Quality Management emphasis and is working on his Doctorate. He has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, Quality Improvement, a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Quality SPC Certificate.

Professor Armstrong is a QS-9000 Internal Auditor, a QS-9000/ISO9000 IATCA Lead Auditor for Quality Systems Management, and a certified Registrar, Accreditation Board (RAB) Quality Management Systems Auditor. He has written articles for Quality Digest Magazine, created work instructions and procedures for an engineering department, and has written a Quality Assurance Manual and a QS-9000/ ISO9000 Quality Manual.

Tom Brennen, M.S.

Professor Brennen’s experience for the last fifteen years has been in the engineering and information technology fields. His position at the University of Wisconsin in Madison keeps him busy, primarily with networking and systems development efforts that involve local, state and wider area facilities. Professor Brennen also teaches network administration, software, and security courses.

Steven P. Chanin, M.S.E., M.S.

Professor Chanin holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State, and an MS degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Professor Chanin is currently the Director of Continuous Improvement at Goodrich Corporation.  He is a former U.S. Navy Main Propulsion Officer and Vietnam veteran who later worked for General Electric as an engineer charged with helping to design the Trident Submarine nuclear reactor. He later joined Hamilton Standard as a member of the engineering team that designed and developed the NASA Space Suit and the Space Shuttle. He eventually moved into manufacturing where he was a Business Unit Manager at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Director of Manufacturing at ABB Corporation Nuclear Power Division, and then Director of Operations and Process Improvement at AeroThrust Corporation.

Philip Chong, M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Chong is a professor in the Department of Management at California State University, Long Beach and has consulted for many companies in the implementation of microcomputer based MRP systems including McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He is certified in Production and Inventory Management by the American Production and Inventory Control Society.

Kurt H. Diesch, Ph.D.

Dr. Diesch received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.  His primary interest has been in software development and he has been working in that area since the 1980s.  Dr. Diesch’s  latest work is in the area of ASP.NET web development and data analysis using MS SQL and MS Analysis Services. 

Dr. Diesch spent  several  years as a professor at Iowa State University and he has  taught over 75 courses at online schools. His experience in online education has made him a firm believer in this medium.

Professor Durollari holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology through Southern Illinois University and a master of science degree in telecommunications management through Golden Gate University. He teaches information systems at several universities, including the University of San Francisco, National University, Golden Gate University, San Jose City College and Heald Institute of Technology.  Professor Durollari has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications engineering & installation of networks spanning the globe-emphasizing system engineering, training & education, project management, quality assurance, personnel management, training development, total quality management, network management, marketing, and financial management skills.

Professor Durollari is an active member of Building Industry Consulting Standards International (BICSI) and a premier partner of CISCO Systems -- CISCO Certified Design Associate (CCDA) -- CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and runs, his own company, DuroTelecom Inc., with several partners.

Professor Flagg’s background includes marketing positions in retail, sales, and management positions in manufacturing, retail and distribution/wholesaling. The products that he has been involved with are clothing, computer software, computer hardware and technology archive products.

She has received the outstanding Engineer Merit Award by the Orange County Engineering Council and has served as lecturer and panelist for colleges of engineering across the nation. Dr. Forbes is a veteran (U.S. Navy), a private pilot and aircraft owner.

Professor Franceschi received his Masters degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in Sacramento, California. He is currently the Chief for Contracts Processing with the State of California, Managed Care Medi-Cal Division, and also is the HIPAA policy coordinator for that Division, in the Department of Health Services. He has worked with the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, developing strategies for Managed Care of AOD clients, and has served as the Budget Analyst to the State Board of Registered Nursing.

Dr. Gleit received his Ph. D. from Stanford and has been a professor of Mathematics for over ten years. Seeking "real world experience", he became first a consultant in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and then applied statistician in industry. Dr. Gleit then started his career in the financial services industry. After jobs with Citicorp and several other large banks, he was a Senior Vice President and Balance Sheet Manager for a $30 billion regional bank. He is the author of over fifty research papers and was an associate editor of Operations Research.

Professor Hurley has worked as a Senior Financial Analyst for the Boeing Company and currently works for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, where he is the Senior Analyst over the Authority's $ 300 million capital program.

Dr. Infande is the Director of Human Resources for AeroThrust Corporation, where he is responsible for the supervision of the entire human resources management and development function for the Company.
Dr. Infande has been in the field of Human Resources Management and Training and Development for 15 years in the hospitality industry, for such four- and five-star establishments as the Biltmore Hotel, Alexander Hotel, Celebrity Cruises, Pier 66 Resort and Marina, Hilton Hotels and Resorts Corporation, and Sheridan Hotels Resorts Corporation.

He has developed and presented a wide variety of HRD workshops for the hospitality industry in such areas as Train-the-Trainer, Leadership Development, Team Building, Interpersonal Relations, Goal Setting, Problem Solving, Stress Management, and Customer Service.

Dr. Infande is also an Adjunct Professor for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Baker College, where he teaches human resources management courses and has published several articles in the areas of adult learning, customer service, goal setting, stress management, and training and development.

Professor Kyle is completing her dissertation in Information Systems at Nova-Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She received her master's degree in Computer Resources and Information Management from Webster University and her bachelor's degree from Barry University in Miami, where she majored in Management Information Systems.

Dr. Ronald D. McFarland received his Ph.D. in Computing Technology in Education. Dr. McFarland's professional experience includes working as an Information Systems Consultant and Applications System Analyst in which he participated in the analysis of vendor software packages as well as managing technical staffs.

Dr. Moussa is a Certified Public Accountant (Maryland State), and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he is a Certified Internal Auditor and a member of the Institute of Certified Internal Auditors. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He has more than twenty years of experience in the fields of Accounting and Auditing. Currently, Dr. Moussa is working as a Senior Auditor for the City of Redondo Beach, California.

He is an ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) from GE Capital, and an NAIT Certified Senior Industrial Technologist (CSIT).

Janet Stern-Solomon, D.B.A., M.B.A.

Dr. Stern-Solomon is currently a tenured professor of management at Towson University where in addition to her teaching responsibilities, she was the Coordinator of Management and Human Resources Administration Group, and Vice-Chair of the Management Department. She has gained recognition in both national and international circles and has over 40 publications and conference presentations to her credit. Professor Solomon serves as a consultant to business and industry and is continually requested to act as a professional Mediator and Arbitrator. She is a member of the Industrial Relations Research Association, Society for Human Resource Management and the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution.

Keith Thurgood, M.B.A., M.S.

Professor Thurgood received his MBA in Business Administration from Boston University and his Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.  He served over 6 years active duty in the Army, assigned to the Transportation Corps, in a variety of European and stateside assignments that included a broad range of transportation, logistics, operational and planning positions, including that of a transportation planner supporting NATO exercises. 

Professor Thurgood is is currently in the United States Army Reserve and assigned as the Deputy Commanding General, 95th Division, with responsibility for overall operations.  The unit currently has over 600 soldiers deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  He is currently employed by PepsiCo, Inc., a $25 billion global enterprise as the Director, Strategy and Innovation for the PepsiCo Transportation Team.  Each year PepsiCo spends $1 billion on transportation related activities.  Professor Thurgood has responsibility for developing supply chain and logistics strategies across the business enterprise.  He has been an invitational speaker at The Council of Logistics Management, The International Intermodal Expo and a participant in numerous transportation forums and panels.  He is a Certified Transportation Planner (CTP).

L. Neil Thurgood, M.S.

Professor Thurgood has 20 years of professional management and leadership experience in academics, the industrial market place, and in the military. He has worked on projects with “single” tier Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) of ten million dollars to highly complex integrated systems projects of multi-billion dollars. The development of organizations, management of change, and execution of projects are exciting challenges for Professor Thurgood.

Richard E. Yellen, Ph.D.

Professor Yellen holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona and a Master's Degree from UCLA. Professor Yellen has worked for CPA firms and a large metropolitan hospital and has done extensive consulting work, including consulting for Texas Instruments. Professor Yellen has taught at universities in Australia and the Republic of Singapore in addition to having taught at three universities in the United States. Professor Yellen has worked in and consulted for Distance Education for four years.

Carol Wells, Ph.D.

Professor Wells' specialization is in Business and Industrial Management. She has offered program Management for Fortune 20 companies in the development of specific programs meeting corporate needs and DoD requirements. Additionally, she has developed accountability instruments for quality processes, which are used nationally. Dr. Wells is focused on Business Organizations, Quality Programs, Human Resources, Marketing and Administration; and has developed extensive training programs. Professor Wells is a Learning Specialist, who is highly rated for her success in working with adult learners.

Caroline S. Westerhof, Ph.D.
New York University
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, MANAGEMENT

Dr. Westerhof’s career has spanned senior management and policymaking positions in academia, business, government and politics. She was a research professor at the University of South Florida, designed and chaired a new management college degree program as a tenured full professor within the City University of New York.

Dr. Westerhof was the first female visiting professor at the U.S. Air War College, and a political analyst for ABC-News; in cooperation with the U.S. State Department, she set up public and business management programs in Ghana. She has been a weekly writer for the McGraw Hill Contemporary Learning POWERWEB series, and served as an advisory consultant to the U.S. Presidential Task Force on Regulatory Affairs. Dr. Westerhof has negotiated national and international regulatory requirements for domestic and global corporations; co-founded the Living Learning Institute at the University of Tampa, and is the author of The Executive Connection, the first management study on press secretaries to elected chief executives.

Dr. Westerhof presently heads The Management Institute and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Academy of International Business, American Society of Public Administration, the American Society on Aging, and the Mid South Sociological Association.
