Student Grades and Instructor Gradebook
Students
- My Grades

Students have a tool My Grades that will show progress in a course
- Open the Course Tools area
- Select My Grades

- On the My Grades you will two kinds of markings
- Graded Items
Shown as a score - Ungraded Items
Shown as an exclamation Mark (!)

- Graded Items

Grading a Single Assignment for One Student
- Open the Control Panel
- In the Assessment area, click on Gradebook

- After a student submits an assignment, you will see an exclamation mark(!)
- Click on the exclamation mark(!)

- There are five sections on this page:
Assignment Information
In this section you can see both the name and instructions for this item. You also have the option to clear the attempt. Generally speaking, this option is only used if a student has submitted the wrong assignment

User's Work
In this section you will see the user comments and any file attachments. To open any attachments, click on the name of the file

Feedback to User
To enter a grade, click in the grade box, delete the exclamination mark (!), and enter your grade
If you wish to give the student feedback, you can either type your comment in the Comments box, or upload their assignments with comments inside the document

Submit
You can submit the graded assignment here. Once you have graded an item, the student will be able to see it using My Tools
- Export/Download Multiple Assignments including Attachments

There will be times when you want to grade student work, but will not have an Internet connection. You can Export/Download the files that you want, along with the attachments.
- Go to the Control Panel.
- Under Assessments, click Gradebook.
- In the Gradebook, select the name of the assignment

- On the Item Options screen select Item Download
- On the Download Assignment page, select the students and click Submit.

- On the Download Assignment, click on the Download Assignments Now link

- The student submission files are packaged as a .zip file. When asked, click on the Save button.
You will then have to designate the location

The zipped files looks like this:

- When you open the zip file, you will see each student's files. The naming convention is Assignment name_username_filename.

- Extract or open the files and review them.
Optionally make inline changes/comments within appropriate files (such as Word). Attach your revised file(s) when grading the student's assignment via the Gradebook.
- Reset an Assignment Grade

On occasion, you will need to reset a student's grade on an assignment. For assignments, a student has either submitted the wrong assignment or had some problem upload a file.
- Go to the Control Panel.
- Under Assessments, click Gradebook.
- In the Gradebook, select the student

- Select User Grade List

- Click on the View button to the right of the assignment

- Change the grade, and click Submit

- Changing Points for a Test

If a student gets locked out of his test attempt, you may clear the attempt and let the student retake the test (All answers will be lost).
- Go to the Control Panel.
- Under Assessments, click Gradebook.
- locate the Lock, and click on it

- Click on the Clear Attempt link
- You will be asked to confirm your decision, click on the OK

- You will be returned to the gradebook, where the test has been cleared
- For the student to retake the exam, it must be started from the beginning
- View a Summary of all Grades for a Student

- Open the Control Panel
- In the Assessment area, click on Gradebook

- Click on the Student Name

- Select User Grade List
